Susan Mapes has over 25 years of experience in augmentative communication. She has worked in a variety of settings including home health, pediatric rehabilitation and public schools. Since 2005, Susan has served as a Consulting Speech-Language Pathologist in Chesterfield County Public Schools’ Assistive Technology Center. Her responsibilities include performing evaluations and consultations related to augmentative/alternative communication (AAC), collaborating with educational teams on the implementation of assistive technology in the classroom for preschool through high school aged students, and designing and providing trainings to educational teams and county-wide staff. Susan participated as a subject matter expert in the RESNA sponsored AT in Schools Job Analysis. She has given numerous presentations at regional and state conferences on topics related to AAC.
