By modeling accessible instructional materials (AIM) throughout the school year and properly scaffolding AT supports, educators can create successful, independent readers in the classroom, at home, and on statewide assessments. Research tells us that the benefits of using AIM (such as the audio component) on reading comprehension, persist even when AIM cannot be used in Virginia’s Reading SOL. This session will show educators how to build accessible reading strategies into the classroom to empower students towards reading success.
Whilst AT Network strives to adhere to the accepted guidelines and standards for accessibility and usability, it is not always possible to do so when linking to documents and sites outside of our site. We are continually seeking out solutions that will bring these other areas up to the same level of overall web accessibility. In the meantime, should you experience any difficulty in accessing the material, please don’t hesitate to contact us at matthewn@vt.edu.
