Augmentative and Alternative Communication Instruction for Highly Impacted Students with ASD: High- and Low-Tech Strategies to Increase Communication Archived
Presented by: Melanie Derry and Carol Schall
Date & Time: Wednesday, May 4, 2022 3:00 PM - 4:00 PM ET

While many students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) learn effective verbal communication skills, there are still those learners who require Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) techniques and devices to communicate. In this session, the presenters will discuss and model evidence-based practices to embed AAC device use across the school day to increase communication. In addition, they will also review ways to ensure families participate in the implementation of AAC. Finally, the presenters will explore creative ways to increase access to AAC devices across the Commonwealth.

Whilst AT Network strives to adhere to the accepted guidelines and standards for accessibility and usability, it is not always possible to do so when linking to documents and sites outside of our site. We are continually seeking out solutions that will bring these other areas up to the same level of overall web accessibility.
