Kristy received her undergraduate degree in Communication from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill and her graduate degree in Communication Disorders from Appalachian State University. She is certified by ASHA (American Speech-Language-Hearing Association) and licensed by the Board of Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology in Virginia. Kristy has worked with persons with communication disorders since 1997. She has worked in private settings as well as Virginia public schools serving students ages 2- 21. She joined the T/TAC at Virginia Tech in 2023 as a Coordinator of Communication. Kristy focuses her efforts on providing training and technical assistance to educators who support students with a variety of communication delays and disorders, with a special interest in augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) and assistive technology (AT).
