Meghan has 13 years of experience working with students with disabilities with various needs. She graduated from James Madison University with a degree in Media Arts and Design and quickly found she had missed her calling working with students with disabilities. Meghan also substituted and worked as an instructional assistant. She obtained her Master of Education in Special Education, General Education, and an endorsement in Severe Disabilities from Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU). Meghan spent 12 years in the classroom before joining the Virginia Department of Education’s (VDOE) Training and Technical Assistance Center (T/TAC) at VCU. Since then, she has enjoyed coaching teachers on using best practices in the classroom to better support their students. Meghan is also a member of two VDOE statewide projects: The Assistive Technology Network and the I’m Determined Project. Through the AT Network, she has supported school divisions in developing a deeper understanding of AT. As a part of the I’m Determined Project, Meghan has helped youth with disabilities develop self-advocacy skills and coached teachers on how to support self-determination skill development in their classrooms, schools, and divisions. Inclusion is of the utmost importance to Meghan, and she is excited to help professionals, families, and students utilize Assistive Technology to provide access in all environments.
