Date & Time:
Tuesday, November 19, 2024 11:00 AM - 12:15 PM ET
Location: Alleghany

Did you know that a fidget can be a thing and not just an action? Of course you did! Sensory fidgets have been recognized as therapeutic devices to help calm and focus, benefiting individuals of all ages. The right fidget used as a tool, not a toy, can provide an opportunity to try options for self regulation and engage in quiet exploration and self calming activities. These tools are not one-size-fits all, and are most effective when provided with supports and suggestions on how and when to use them. Comel engage with and create a simple collection of sensory tools and supports. You will be provided with digital resources as well.
Objectives:
- Participants will make five or more sensory tools.
- Participants will name five or more easily found materials that can be used to create sensory tools or fidgets.
- Participants will list two or more reasons why a Fidget Contract may be beneficial to use when introducing sensory tools or fidgets.
Whilst AT Network strives to adhere to the accepted guidelines and standards for accessibility and usability, it is not always possible to do so when linking to documents and sites outside of our site. We are continually seeking out solutions that will bring these other areas up to the same level of overall web accessibility. In the meantime, should you experience any difficulty in accessing the material, please don’t hesitate to contact us at matthewn@vt.edu.
