This dynamic session is designed for Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs), teachers, and other professionals working with students who use Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC). Participants will learn innovative strategies to create spontaneous, engaging activities that support AAC learning while maintaining a consistent focus on supporting literacy skill development.

The session will begin with several practical examples that demonstrate how we can follow a student's lead while maintaining a focus on literacy skills. These examples will showcase various scenarios and age groups, providing a broad spectrum of applications.

Following the initial demonstrations, the session will transition into a participant-led brainstorming and demonstration phase. Attendees will have the opportunity to share their own experiences and collaborate to generate fun activities that require minimal lesson planning.

Throughout the session, emphasis will be placed on flexibility, creativity, and the seamless integration of AAC and literacy goals. Participants will leave with a digital toolkit of ideas and heightened confidence in their ability to create impromptu learning opportunities that cater to their students' interests while advancing their communication and literacy skills.
