Location: Alleghany

)
Every individual has the right to self-expression through art, however, neuromuscular, visual and anatomic differences may hinder accessibility. UDL principles stress multiple means of engagement, representation, action and expression using a proactive approach. With simple modifications, it is possible to ensure that all children can be engaged, and express themselves through art. Adaptations, and (very) low-tech assistive technology supports can be used and customized improving access to art with easily found materials. Participants will create a simple art “toolkit” to help students participate in art activities. Digital directions for art tool kit items and related websites will be provided.
Objectives:
- Participants will make five or more simple tools to help students participate in art activities.
- Participants will name five or more easily found materials that can be used to create tools to support participation in art activities.
- Participants will list three or more specific interventions during art activities for students with physical, visual, motor, and/or sensory difficulties.
Whilst AT Network strives to adhere to the accepted guidelines and standards for accessibility and usability, it is not always possible to do so when linking to documents and sites outside of our site. We are continually seeking out solutions that will bring these other areas up to the same level of overall web accessibility. In the meantime, should you experience any difficulty in accessing the material, please don’t hesitate to contact us at matthewn@vt.edu.
