Make AT in Minutes Lab: Simple Assistive Technology for Inclusive Learning

Grounded in the principles of Universal Design for Learning (UDL)—multiple means of engagement, representation, and action and expression—this session explores a continuum of assistive technology (AT) supports designed to increase access, participation, and meaningful learning for all students.

Assistive technology is often perceived as complicated, expensive, or "just one more thing to do." In reality, some of the most effective supports are simple, low-tech solutions made with familiar, easily accessible materials. When educational tools and assistive technology overlap, the benefits extend beyond individual learners to everyone in an inclusive learning environment.

This session embraces the EASY approach to AT: Economy of cost and time; Additional or Adapted uses of familiar tools; alignment with Standards already embedded in instruction; and Your ownership—helping students and educators see that the tool is theirs to use.

Through a self-guided Assistive Technology Make & Take Lab, participants will explore materials, samples, and practical adaptations that can be made in minutes and used to make play and learning activities more accessible, engaging, and meaningful. Discover new uses for familiar tools, build your AT toolkit, and leave with ideas you can put into practice right away.

Drop in for a minute or stay for an hour. We'll be open for business on Tuesday November 17 from 10:30-4:30. Explore, create, adapt, and discover ways to "Do AT Your Way."
