Literacy related AT in the Classroom: Supporting Student Independence, Efficiency and Success Face-to-Face
Presented by: Kelly Fonner
Date & Time: Wednesday, November 18, 2026 1:30 PM - 4:00 PM ET Add event to Calendar

Assistive technology can be daunting, especially when a student and their teacher is new to it. Procrastination of use and abandonment of AT in a new environment looms large - but it doesn’t have to be that way. Come to this session and hear of the realities that educators and their AT using students encounter and ways to work through the process of effective and efficient integration of AT tools and strategies into the reading and writing activities of the school day for students who have had those tools recommended in order for them to participate in grade level lessons and activities.

Whilst AT Network strives to adhere to the accepted guidelines and standards for accessibility and usability, it is not always possible to do so when linking to documents and sites outside of our site. We are continually seeking out solutions that will bring these other areas up to the same level of overall web accessibility. In the meantime, should you experience any difficulty in accessing the material, please don’t hesitate to contact us at matthewn@vt.edu.
